"Grounding" By Georgina Lewis

What happens when you combine alchemy, magic, nature, and technology? This piece is part of a larger body of work that explores the questions “how can we develop and sustain agency in the age of technology” and “what are the benefits of so doing?” 2 computer hard drive magnets float atop a complex pattern of lights and a white and brown background object known as a septarian nodule (a compact mineral mass embedded within layers of rock, also known as a dragon stone and valued for its grounding and self healing powers). My work vacillates from the absolutely hand made to the highly technically involved and this digital composite image falls very much into the latter category.
