"Conversation with 702" By Margie Schnibbe

Conversation with 702 is a documentation of a painting that originated as a screenshot on my iPhone 4. The painting was included in my 2013 solo exhibition PSYCHOPATHIA SEXUALIS:NSFW at Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles. I chose Conversation with 702 as my first ever minted NFT to call attention to what I see as a lack of feminist discourse in the NFT marketplace. 
  
 Conversation with 702 is a fragment of one of thousands of private text messages that occurred between myself and potential lovers at a time when I was actively participating in hookup culture. My intention in choosing to mint this work as an NFT is to generate a larger dialogue with a public viewing audience.
 

 Conversation with 702 also functions as a (perhaps sentimental) reminder of all the fun I had hooking up in a pre-Covid 19 world. Shortly after the lockdown began in 2020, I removed my profiles from all dating apps. After over a year in isolation and now fully vaccinated, I ask myself whether I will return to those same apps. I am confident that I am not alone in asking this question.
